This requires me to go to some fortress in the far Northwest of the islands over which the Golden Saints and Dark Seducers have been fighting for quite some time. Then I am sent of to rekindle some mystic flame in New Sheoth. So I am somehow going to become Sheogorath, or at least gain some of his powers, so that I can stop Jyggalag. Sheogorath then tells me a bit more about his plans - he "can't be here" when Jyggalag arrives at the head of the Greymarch, the invasion of the Forces of Order which results in the cyclical destruction of the Shivering Isles (which apparently explains what happened to the Old Sheoth - Sheogorath can never remember where he put them). I smile and nod for now, but make no mistake - you've just made it on my List. My life shall be spared? You don't have the power to kill me! Sheogorath sure, but not you! I am the Divine Crusader, Archmage of the Mage's Guild, Grandmaster of the Fighter's Guild, and Champion of Cyrodiil! How are you holding the power of Life and Death over me? The Duchess has her executed, and then promises me that as a reward my life shall be spared.
I confront the Ringleader, who lives with her zombie uncle and confesses immediately without torture. When I go visit the Khajiit, he has been murdered, but his murderer was sloppy enough not to remove the keys to a cupboard in his locker, where I find the Khajiit's last written words. The Dark Seducer, after extended torture, names the ringleader. I torture the Khajiit again who confesses now and promises me "names" if I meet him the next evening. I listen in to the next meeting, and apparently they really are conspiring to kill the Duchess instead of just being secret lovers. Thus, I torture his opponent in the local street fighting ring which takes place on a roof somewhere in Crucible, and she tells me that the Khajiit was seen talking to a Dark Seducer guard. My torturer fails me here - first he fails because the Khajiit sits with the back to several obstacles which the torturer is unable to pass around, and then because the Khajiit refuses to confess even under torture. I start by torturing her courtiers, who point me towards a local Khajiit. The Duchess of Mania wants me to root out a conspiracy against her, and assigns me a torturer as an assistant. I let Murdersaurus deal with them and grab the Chalice - which cures me, and I am off to New Sheoth. In the end, I make it to a tower where a pair of addicts attack me with their bare fists. So I race through a vast hive of giant insects, summon Murdersaurus to distract them, and otherwise only attack one of them when they have the healthy green glow of Felldew production. Which, in my usual overloaded state, means that all my gear gets too heavy to carry.
What follows is one of the tensest dungeon crawls I have done in my career - because after a while Felldew wears off and I need another fix, or else I get progressively weakened. When I kill one of the giant insects in the area, it has a small amount of the substance with it - so I am in. The Duke sends me on a fetch quest for the "Chalice of Reversal", and I learn that I need to consume an addictive substance named "Felldew" in order to enter the dungeon it is located. Sheogorath gives me an attaboy with no more than the usual number of death threats, and then sends me off to meet the Duke of Mania and Duchess of Dementia and do some work for them, because he figured I ought to get to know the land better that I am supposed to save.
The smith working with Madness Ore has the happiest smile - it's always nice to meet a professional who takes pride in her work. Afterwards, I am attacked by three Knights of Order who are suddenly popping up.
So I reactivate the Adventurers' Trap and drive three adventurers mad - the first one by having a tiny gnarl transform into a giant gnarl, the second by dropping hundreds of keys in front of a locked treasure vault, and the third by making him believe he has died and become a ghost (the option to kill them was given in each phase, but hey - this could have been me!).
